Oscar's dreaming...
It's the middle of the night and Oscar has sent for a car to take him home. The car arrives and Oscar gets in, looking to the rearview mirror, he sees the driver is silent but grinning at him. They start to drive and Oscar watches the streets pass by.
They enter into a wooded area, the forest densely lining the streets edge. A person emerges from the trees, walking slowly onto the street, head craned toward the car, eyes shining bright green and fixed on the headlights. They make no move to speed up as the car approaches and the driver makes no move to swerve out of their way, and yet as the distance shortens, the person passes, just barely missed by the car as they continue to stare, Oscar catching their gaze in the side window. An uneasy feeling settles over him. They continue driving.
Another person emerges from the woods and the scene repeats. Glowing eyes. Slow gait. Missed by an inch. Oscar feels that it's taking longer to get home than it should.
He turns to look in the mirror again, the driver is still smiling.
They begin to enter a neighborhood, the road is dirt and the houses are damaged. This isn't the way home. Another person walks in front of the car. Glowing eyes. Slow gait. Missed by an inch. Oscar screams at the driver to tell him where they're going. The driver grins and starts to laugh. Oscar shakes him. The drivers eyes stay on the road, he doesn't respond to anything. He just keeps laughing. Oscar knows if he tries to exit the car the man will follow him and the neighborhood is barren. There would be no place to hide. No one to help. Oscar sits back in his seat and starts to try to calm himself. He begins to think. What can he do. He checks his phone. No service. What can he do. He checks his bag. No weapon. What can he do. He's scared. What can he do. There has to be something. What can he do? His own voice seems to speak to him outside of his head and apart from his body. It tells him he can wake up.
Oscar is awake.
